We are pleased to announce that author Rachael Hanel will be visiting us at 1:30pm on Saturday, October 4. Hanel will speak about her latest book, We’ll Be the Last Ones to Let You Down: Memoir of a Gravedigger’s Daughter, as well as provide some memoir writing tips.
We’ll Be the Last Ones to Let You Down (a 2014 Minnesota Book Award finalist) presents the unique, moving perspective of a gravedigger’s daughter and her lifelong relationship with death. It is also a masterful meditation on the living elements of our cemeteries: our neighbors, friends, and families and how these things come together in the eyes of a young girl whose childhood is suffused with death and the wonder of the living.
Rachael Hanel is a fiscal year 2014 recipient of an Artist Initiative Grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature; and by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
We will be closed on Monday, September 1 in observance of Labor Day. We will open again for our usual hours, 10am-6pm, on Tuesday, September 2.
