Both monetary donations and item donations are accepted at the library. Your money helps to support our library by providing computers for patrons, additional books, and programs for children.

The library accepts donations of materials within the following guidelines:

• Limit of two boxes of materials per person, per month
  • Larger donations may be accepted at the discretion of library staff, and
    drop off must be arranged in advance
• Items must be in good, clean condition, free from mold and water damage
  Book covers must be intact and present

We accept the following items:

• All fiction titles regardless of publication date
• Textbooks and medical books published only in the last ten (10) years
• Non-fiction books published only in the last thirty (30) years
• Music CDs and Books on CD
• DVDs and Blu-rays

We will NOT accept materials if:

• Materials were stored long term in a basement, garage, or attic
• Items smell musty or excessively of tobacco smoke
• Items have handwriting or highlighting
• Pages are missing
• Tops of pages are discolored or speckled due to age

We do NOT accept the following items:

• Encyclopedias, dictionaries, thesauruses, or other similar reference material
• Magazines
• Nonfiction & fiction annuals (items published every year – almanacs, facts on
  file, yearbooks)
• Items with spiral spines
• VHS – Videocassette tapes
• Books on tape (Cassette)
• Reader’s Digest condensed books
• Bibles and hymnals
• Advanced Reader Copies (ARCs)/Proofs

All material donations become the sole property of the Zumbrota Public Library.
Material donations are not accepted unless freely given to the library without restriction.

Receipts for income tax purposes indicating the number of items and the date of the
donation may be given by the library staff when requested. The library cannot assign a
value to these items.
